The course "Tourism Economics" teachers students about new trend and innovations of tourism economics. Students learn how to create tourisnt products, develop the skills of competent communicative behavior with the consumer of tourist and recreational products. The aim of the course is to form students' knowledge of the basic concepts in the field of organizing tourist services, based on modern market realities and analysis of supply and demand for specific types of tourist services at the regional, Russian and world level.
Studying the course may allow to answer a number of topical questions:
1. What is tourisn economics about?
2. How to calculate the financial indicators of a tourist product?
3. How to draw up a business plan for tourism and hotel organization?
4. What is hospitality?
5. How to create tourism organization according to international quality standards?

After completing the course, students will be ready to draw up and implement projects of the initial level of complexity, as well as form a solid theoretical foundation for further enhancing their competencies in project management.

• LO4. A student defines the main production economic indicators of enterprises in the tourism sector in order to ensure economic efficiency.
• LO5. А student uses methods of analyzing production and economic indicators of a tourist enterprise for making an economically sound management decision.
• LO6. А student has the basics of problems and innovations in tourism industry.
• LO7. А student uses the methods and skills of tourism economics based on the knowledge gained.
The course is intended for students, teachers, as well as for managers of tourism and hotel organizations. A general understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry is required.
The course includes: working with interactive text of lectures with subsequent answers to questions for self-examination and discussion on the forum; carrying out training tasks for each topic; passing the final asessment in the form of performing the final control test.
